The Making of Alistair Wynthrope
The Making of Alistair Wynthrope
The Viscount and the Crusade (1078 – 1095 CE)
Alistair Wynthrope was born in 1078 CE, the ninth Viscount of Drakul, into a minor noble family in what would become northern France. Unlike the hardened warriors and devout priests of his era, Alistair was known for his sharp, analytical mind and a frustrating inability to suffer fools. He was more concerned with the logistics of estate management and the proper collection of rents than with tournaments or theology.
By the time he was a young man of seventeen, Europe was ablaze with religious fervor. The call came to join the First Crusade, a cause that Alistair viewed with detached skepticism. His father, seeking to temper his son's pragmatic nature with "holy purpose," insisted Alistair join the ranks.
In 1095 CE, Alistair followed the massive, disorganized army eastward. It was during the siege of a small, dusty town that his human life ended. While his comrades were lost to battle or fever, Alistair was struck down by a more ancient peril. Ambushed in the waning moonlight by an elder of the burgeoning Vampire Council—a secretive, aristocratic society newly established in the region—Alistair was turned.
He awoke as a creature of the night, forever frozen at the age of seventeen, with a mind now sharpened to an immortal, calculating edge. His pragmatism instantly shifted to survival. He abandoned the collapsing Crusade, realizing that immortal life was a far more worthwhile pursuit than a fleeting holy war.
Centuries of Calculation (12th Century – 1987 CE)
Alistair spent the next few centuries observing the world with a cynical, privileged distance. He cultivated a taste for the finer things—namely, O-negative from crystal glasses—and became an expert in managing wealth across collapsing dynasties. He despised overt chaos and the "silly doublets" of changing human fashion.
His vast, accumulating life became a collection of data points on war, power, and, occasionally, love.
A Dragon’s Obsession
In 1642, at a secretive supernatural summit in Vienna, Alistair met Lady Obsidian, a formidable dragon of the ancient Obsidian Cliffs clan. She was drawn not to his title or charm, but to his complete refusal to participate in the ridiculous fashion and political posturing of the era. Alistair's lack of pretense, combined with his enduring sophistication, intrigued her. This meeting marked the beginning of a centuries-long, persistent romantic pursuit by the dragon, which Alistair skillfully navigated with the same logistical brilliance he applied to his finances.
The Werewolf's Debt
A century and a half later, in 1823, Alistair found himself entangled in a massive supernatural sports tournament known as the Dragon's Cup. It was during this event that the centuries-old werewolf Marcus, in a fit of competitive rage, bit the referee. The ensuing riot—which involved the burning down of a stadium and the turning of three people into toads—somehow spiraled into the Belgian Revolution. Alistair, ever the fixer, used his vast network and political clout to cover up the supernatural origins of the chaos, saving Marcus from the most severe consequences. This act secured a major favor from the werewolf pack leader that would be called upon centuries later.
A Glimpse of the Future
In 1987, Alistair witnessed one of the worst supernatural business ideas of the 20th century: the Raskoll3000 attempt to create a cloned werewolf boy band. The disaster "ended badly," confirming Alistair's deep-seated distrust of merging technology with uncontrollable supernatural chaos.
For the next few decades, Alistair retreated to his quiet, elegant life in Mayfair, London, dedicated to sipping his fine blood, complaining about fluorescent lighting and modernity, and avoiding sunlight.
The Reawakening (2020 – Present)
Alistair’s quiet routine was shattered in 2020 when a burgeoning K-Pop group arrived in London. The subsequent zombie outbreak in Croydon, orchestrated by the rogue vampire Count Vlag, brought Alistair face-to-face with AETHER. He expected five screaming, hysterical humans. Instead, he found a group of young women who defeated a zombie army using synchronized choreography and an inexplicable, powerful fan chant.
Alistair was deeply intrigued. This group was chaotic, unpredictable, and yet possessed a genuine, emotional power that transcended the usual rules of the supernatural world. Their chaotic methods were somehow effective.
When their first human manager, Mr. Park, rightfully quit, Alistair seized the opportunity. Becoming their manager at a notorious 3 AM meeting, he took the girls under his wing. He saw in AETHER a chance to observe and influence history through a new, chaotic, yet hopeful lens. He became their protector, diplomat, and strategist, using his 947 years of experience to navigate everything from vampire politics to deep-sea diplomacy, ensuring AETHER survived to "reach the sun."
